Sessions and today's block
Names what to study today, keeps your bookmark, and journals each session. Consistency is the only metric.
yat:sessionSessions and today's block
yat:session has two jobs: name today's block, and keep each env's bookmark and journal. It is how "where was I" costs nothing.
What you say
| You say | What happens |
|---|---|
what should I do today / plan my day | Names today's block first, in one line, before anything else |
resume / where was I | Continues from the bookmark's next move, with no recap |
pause | Saves your spot and stops |
checkpoint / save my spot | Saves your spot and keeps going |
status | One line: env, current unit, next move |
meditate | Reflects back two or three of your own lines from today and asks you to re-explain one you missed |
wrap up / done for today | Saves the bookmark, journals the session, ticks the swim lane |
reset week | Moves the next move back to the start of the current unit, after one confirmation |
swim lane | Refreshes tracker/progress.md, where every env stands |
How today's block is chosen
There is no hand-written weekly plan. Each env's env.toml says which days it owns, and the schedule is derived from that.
| Key | Meaning |
|---|---|
tier | 1 primary, 2 secondary, 3 opportunistic, or "sprint" with an expires date |
cadence | The days this env owns, such as ["mon", "thu"], optionally with a slot like "sat-am" |
status | active, paused or archived; only active envs are routed |
An unexpired sprint outranks everything, then tier 1, 2, 3. A day with no match is a rest day, and the tutor says so instead of inventing a block. Sessions are named blocks, never durations, and skipping one is guilt-free.
Two files per env
session-state.mdis the bookmark. It is overwritten every time, a pointer and not a log.progress.mdis the journal. It is only ever appended to, atwrap up.
Files it touches
| Reads | Writes |
|---|---|
envs/*/env.toml | envs/<env>/session-state.md |
envs/<env>/session-state.md, progress.md, interactions.jsonl | envs/<env>/progress.md |
tracker/progress.md, memory/ontology/graph.jsonl | tracker/progress.md, notebook pages you choose to keep |
Terminal: plumbing. The same schedule rule is code in your_ai_tutor/schedule.py, shown by yat-status.
